Ms. Fox & Mr. Bane
The Physical Education team at Dayton Oaks consists of Lisa Fox, Greg Bane.
We are off to a great year in PE. We have been working on developmental movement skills with our kindergarten and first grade students. Our second grade through fifth grade students have been working on our Let’s Get Fit unit. We have been learning about the health and skill related components of fitness. Ask your child which superhero of fitness they enjoyed the most!
October and November are busy months in PE class. All students got to visit the Fall Gym the last week of October. We will learn about the human heart during our Heart Challenge Obstacle course in November.
December will have our third through fifth graders working on volleyball activities, while our K through 2nd grades work on ball skills. January and February will be our rhythms/dance and gymnastics units. We look forward to using the whittle equipment during our gymnastics unit to learn about controlled climbing and creative movement.
Grading in PE is based on student performance during skill assessments. Effort grades are based on learning behaviors and active participation. If you have any questions regarding grades please feel free to contact your child’s PE teacher.
All students have PE for 90 minutes a week. Please make sure to note the PE days for your child so that they can be sure to wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing for movement. Students not wearing athletic shoes will not be permitted to participate in PE class. Also no jewelry is permitted during a PE lesson with the exception of small stud earrings. All jewelry must be removed or not worn on PE days.
